This process of sending emails would normally be used to send emails automatically during a step in a process.
On the Processes page, add a step or edit a step already in the process.

Under Events, click Send an Email.

Click the box next to Candidate.
Select an Email Template from the drop down list.
Select when you want to the email to be sent.
Click the blue Add and click the orange Add.
This process of sending emails is highly customize-able. You control who the email is sent to, what email is sent, and when it is sent.
