Let’s review the customizable data fields within the Click Boarding Admin Portal and examples of each:
1. Collection: (array)
- One or more grouping(s) of related fields to be collected once or many times
- Groupings will follow the same method of collection and have the same field names
- A Collection acts as a container for other data fields
- Collection fields can be compared to how a folder on your desktop can contain files; a Collection can contain data fields
EXAMPLE #1: Emergency Contact
You would create Emergency Contact as a Collection if you wanted to collect more than one emergency contact from your candidate.
Emergency Contact Collection could contain:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Relationship
- Phone Number
EXAMPLE #2: Professional License
You would create Professional License as a Collection if you wanted to collect more than one professional license from your candidate.
Professional License Collection could contain:
- Expiration Date
- Issuing Agency
- License Name
- License Number
- License Type
Other examples of a Collection could include:
- Direct Deposit
- Historical Addresses
- Former Name/Aliases
- Previous Education
2. Data Field Group: (object)
- A single grouping of related fields
- Acts as a container for other data fields
- Comparable to a folder on your computer that can contain files, a Data Field Group can contain data fields.
EXAMPLE #1: Emergency Contact
You would create Emergency Contact as a Data Field Group if you wanted to collect one emergency contact from your candidate.
Emergency Contact Collection could contain:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Relationship
- Phone Number
EXAMPLE #2: Professional License
You would create Professional License as a Data Field Group if you wanted to collect one professional license from your candidate.
Professional License Collection could contain:
- Expiration Date
- Issuing Agency
- License Name
- License Number
- License Type
Other examples could include:
- Candidate Legal Name
- Home Address
- Commercial License
3. Date
- Date fields are internationally supported
- It can be “nested” within a Collection or Data Field Group
- The date placeholder and input will change based on the language selected by the Candidate on account creation
- If the candidate selects “English (United States),” this will display and collect the MM/DD/YYYY format
- If the candidate selects “English (United Kingdom),” this will display and collect the DD/MM/YYYY format
- The review page and standard PDF output will always display as international format (YYYY-MM-DD)
EXAMPLES:
- Start Date
- Last Date Worked
- Expiration Date
- Current Date
- Requested start date
- Birthdate
- Work Anniversary Date
- Benefits Eligible Date
4. Phone
- Phone fields are internationally supported.
- Can be “nested” within a Collection or Data Field Group
- Stores data in an industry standard International ready format (E.164 format)
- Same data format as platforms like Twilio (SMS, etc.)

EXAMPLES:
- Mobile Phone
- Office Phone
- Fax Number
- After-Hours Phone Number
- Emergency Contact Phone Number
5. Text (string)
- Any instance where candidate/employee information could be stored as a string
- Can include letters, numbers or symbols
- Can be “nested” within a Collection or Data Field Group
- When using this field on a form, users can indicate if it is collected as:
- A single line of text, OR
- Multiple lines of text, OR
- A selection from a list
- Single line of text: preferred name, routing number, fax number
- Multiple Lines of text: fun fact, short answer, explanation of a previous answer
- Selection from a List: Yes or No; multiple-choice assessment, custom gender selection
- A single line of text, OR
