We’ve updated the first question in the Alabama Guided Flow module to the following: “Are you completing this as a Military Spouse? If not, would you like to complete in English or Spanish?” Previously, the question read “Choose the best option: Military Spouse, English, or Spanish.” The question response options remain the same.
California

- Revision date has been updated from "Rev. 50 (1-21") to "Rev. 51 (12-21)."
- Estimated deductions on line 2 of Worksheet B "Hoja de trabajo B, Deducciones estimadas" have been updated:
- Si es casado que presenta una declaración conjunta con dos o más retenciones, soltero pero cabeza de familia, o viudo(a) calificado(a) con dependiente(s) (Married filing jointly with two or more withholdings, single but head of household or qualifying widow(er) with dependent(s)): updated from $9,202 to $9,606.
- Soltero o casado que presenta una declaración por separado, casado(a) con doble ingreso o casado(a) con múltiples empleadores (single or married filing separately, married dual-income): updated from $4,601 to $4,803.
- Personal exemption amount on line 9 of Worksheet C has been updated from $136.40 to $141.90.
- The tables for calculating Worksheet C have been updated for 2022. The income ranges for each tax rate have been updated.
- Minor changes to text and capitalization across the form, instruction, and worksheet.
- Year references have been updated from 2020 to 2021.
Please note that while the state of California released these changes on 1 April 2022, the form revision date is 1 December 2021.

Utah Guided Mode module updated

For Hosted and On-Premise clients:
- A new option to claim exempt from state withholding as a military spouse will be presented. This option is displayed in both Guided Mode and Choose Mode.

The following tax parameters will now return null if an employee does not enter a value into the respective "Annual Withholding Allowance" or "Additional Withholding Per Pay Period" fields:

Previously, if an employee did not enter a value SPF would return $0. SPF will now return an empty string.

We’ve corrected Line 10 on the PDF of Form 8233 so it will now be checked when an employee selects "Yes" when asked if they are a "foreign student, trainee, professor/teacher or researcher." Previously, if an employee selected "Yes" when asked if they were a "foreign student, trainee, professor/teacher or researcher" this box was not checked on the PDF.
Colorado
Form DR 0004 currency fields updated
Form Name: Colorado Employee Withholding Certificate

We’ve corrected a bug in Form DR004 where currency fields would capture "0.00" instead of leaving the value as blank if a user inputs an amount and then deletes it. If an employee inputs an amount and then deletes it, SPF will no longer add "0.00". SPF will now return an empty string.
South Carolina
Form SC W-4 filing status corrected for exempt employees
Form Name: South Carolina Employee's Withholding Allowance Certificate
SPF Form ID: SC101
When an employee claims exempt on Form SC W-4, SPF will now correctly return the filing status the employee entered into Line 3 on the form in addition to the tax parameter (SC.filingStatus
). Previously, the filing status parameter would return NOT_APPLICABLE
and Line 3 would be blank for exempt employees.
