Federal
Improved federal flow
We’ve updated the first question of the federal flow to ensure it clearly addresses a single question. Previously, the four response options combined multiple answers, leading to confusion. Now, we specifically ask employees to determine their eligibility to complete Form 673, Form 8233, or Form W-4.
If they select the W-4 option, we’ve added a second question that asks them to choose their preferred language. Based on their response, they will be directed to either the English W-4 (W4101) or the Spanish W-4 (W4101SP).
Missouri
Form MO W-4 state label corrected
We've updated the Missouri Form MO W-4 title to correctly display "Missouri" instead of "Mississippi." This change does not affect the form itself or any postback data.
Nebraska
Form W-4N question text updated
We've clarified the question text corresponding to Line 4b of the Personal Allowances Worksheet of Nebraska Form W-4N.
- Old Question Text: "Enter "1" if: Otherwise, enter 0."
- New Question Text: "Select 1 if any of the following apply. Otherwise, select 0."
New York
Form IT-2104 employerIntervention behavior updated
The New York Form IT-2104 has fields for the employee to identify the number of allowances they are claiming. In the event the employee has more than 14 allowances, the employer is required to submit the employee's form to the State. In this case, the tax parameter employerInterventionReason returns a value of "ALLOWANCES" in the postback.
Previously when this occurred, the separate tax parameter employerIntervention would return a value of "false". For consistency, we have made a change so that when the tax parameter employerInterventionReason value returns as "ALLOWANCES", the tax parameter employerIntervention value will return as "true".
North Carolina
Form NC-4 filing status question removed
The North Carolina Form NC-4 NRA does not allow a filing status outside of "Single" (with the exception of the employee claiming exempt). This form previously asked the user to select a filing status with only one option of "Single." This question has been removed from the form. In the event an employee who is not exempt fills out the form, the tax parameter NC.filingStatus will return a value of "S".
North Dakota
North Dakota module updated
We've corrected an error in the North Dakota resident flow that prevented a user from clicking the "back" button. Please note that this error only surfaced when the employee worked in Minnesota and lived in North Dakota.
South Carolina
SC W-4 additional withholding required
In the previous Tax Wizard release, we corrected the "additionalWithholding" field on Form SC W-4 (SC101) so it's required when an employee is not exempt. We've made a backend improvement to resolve an error that surfaced in rare scenarios. This field is now required across all paths when completing Form SC W-4.
Miscellaneous
Improved handling of special characters in UI
We've resolved an issue where the UI was incorrectly removing commas and apostrophes from input fields before passing them to the backend. Fields now properly retain commas and apostrophes where allowed, ensuring they are passed correctly to the backend so the employee can complete the form and their response is accurately reflected on the printed form.
